2010 Membership Information
Membership in the North Dallas RC Club (NDRCC) is open to everybody, but you must be an active member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) before you can join.
The AMA is the official national body for model aviation in the United States. The AMA Safety Code sets the standard for model aircraft operation and forms the cornerstone of the NDRCC safety regulations. The AMA also provides liability, accident, and loss insurance to individual members and clubs. You can obtain further information from the AMA website (http://www.modelaircraft.org) or by calling 765-287-1256.
Please be aware that you must display a current NDRCC membership card in your frequency slot anytime you fly. Absolutely no substitutions are allowed, not even expired membership cards or current AMA cards. Failure to follow this rule can lead to permanent loss of flying priveleges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fly at the club field before I join? The club has strict rules regarding guest flyers. Guests that live within two hours of the field are limited to one flying visit per month and no more than three lifetime guest visits. Guests must place an AMA membership card in the frequency slot along with the club membership card of an NDRCC sponsor. (There is no limit to the number of spectator visits to the field.)
Does the club offer flight training to new members? Free training is offered to all members. You can obtain further information by clicking the "Training" link in the main menu on the left side of the NDRCC home page.
Can I join or renew before my AMA card arrives? You may submit an application to NDRCC before you receive your AMA card. We check your AMA status electronically, but this requires that we have both your name and AMA number. You can contact the AMA to get your number before the card arrives. You will not receive your club membership card until the AMA confirms that you are active for the renewal year.
Do I have to supply all of the information requested on the application? At a minimum, you must supply a name, AMA number, street address, date of birth, and signature. An AMA turbine waiver number is also required if you intend to operate a turbine powered aircraft.
I have not been active in the club for several years, do I have to pay the initiation fee to renew? You never have to pay the initiation fee again, even if you allow your annual membership to lapse for several years.
Why is there a late renewal penalty? The club experienced multiple problems with members flying on expired cards early in the year. The officers were receiving weekly complaints from paying members that were waiting in line behind expired members that refused to follow the rules. The late fee is simply an incentive to get all members to renew on time.
Do I get a discount on the dues if I renew late in the year? The club does not offer any discount on renewals. It is not practical to structure the fees based on individual usage throughout the year. Members that only use the facilities during the first few months of the year would be entitled to partial refunds based on this premise.
