VVCC SOS Kids Day- Eagle Field, April 14- A Huge Success

Earlier this year we received a request from John Grubbs to devote our spring Scouts Day to a group of kids sponsored by Valley View Christian Church, so this morning we had 11 kids (ages 10-13) along with 3 adults visit our field. It was too windy to use the trainers, so after a short RC Ground School conducted by Woody Woods and myself,  we cranked up 3 RC Flight Simulators. Ken Sienski, Johnny Snead and John Grubbs managed this area while, Billy Slater, Greg Pulcini, Woody Woods, Dave Schaeffer and Ivan Shomer launched their planes in 20+mph winds for demo flights. Nick Bernier helped Johnny Snead with photography duties and Dr. Bruce Lakatos, with able assistance from Ivan Shomer, served a superb lunch. After eating huge numbers of hot dogs, the kids (and the adults) enjoyed cup cakes made by Shirley Shafer.  See the Photo Gallery to the left of the page for photo's of the event.
