President’s Corner Don Hafer Things seem to be going rather smoothly for NDRCC overall. The field is in great shape, the weather is once again enjoyable, numerous local events are occurring in September and October and there are no urgent issues. It is time to seriously think about the direction you want our club to move over the next few years and ponder who you want to lead the way. Several of the elected officers are stepping down this year and there has not been a great deal of interest expressed yet by other members to step forward. I will be tapping some of you on the shoulder with recommendations to take your turn. I am ambivalent about not running again as I really enjoy helping to organize our great team of volunteers. It is time for me to take a break and for other, fresher members to lead. Please talk to any existing officer about your possible interest in serving.

President’s Corner
Art Wagner brought in a video of RC crashes for the July program and I swear most of those looked like crashes I was involved in personally. What made the video so great was that the narrator sounded like David Cotton. He had the accent and sarcastic wit which is always a match when drying discussing one crash after another. We will be meeting again on August 19th so come have some fun and please bring your show and tell.
We are clearly in the dog days of summer and it is really important that you stay hydrated and spend some time in the shade. Keep an eye out for your fellow fliers and don’t hesitate to offer a drink (water). Several events are coming up in August and September so hopefully we will see each other at some of these. August 7th is the Denton Swap meet; August 14th is an indoor fly-in at Frontiers of Flight museum; September 11th is the NDRCC Float Fly and October 16th is the NDRCC Scale event.
Charles Shafer is keeping up with the Brazos power line project and things continue to happen. Our lawyer is keeping us well informed and we all owe Charles a big “thanks” for all of the time he has invested on our behalf. Please give him a big hug the next time you see him…. Ok, you can just shake his hand if that makes you more comfortable.

President’s Corner
Most of you will be reading this after the July fourth holiday weekend. I hope you all had a great time with friends and family and perhaps you had a chance to enjoy our hobby a bit. The June meeting was fun as usual and the summer turnout was pretty sparse. The good news was that the odds of winning a raffle prize went up exponentially. I have been putting a little time into construction of new models and that is about it. Unfortunately we have had yet more stress around my house due to a few gentlemen who prefer burglary to gainful employment. When I first heard we got robbed, I almost (notice I said almost) hoped that they took my planes. Why you ask? I think every hobby shop in town would recognize my orange and white planes and they would have called the authorities. It sounds like a cliché, but the truth is that no one was home, no one was hurt and stuff is replaceable. Please stay focused on what is important and it ain’t stuff. I hope to see you at the field or a meeting soon.

President's Corner
Last month we had the NDRCC member’s appreciation day. It was a bit windy and in spite of that, we had a great turnout and very enjoyable day. I am sure there will be other articles posted and pictures of the great time so I will focus on a few specifics. Due to being overly busy with work the past two years, I have not been spending enough time enjoying Eagle field and my fellow members. It was great to see many of you for the first time in a few years and for others it was great to meet you for the first time. We also had a lot of fun with friends and family members attending.

President's Corner
April and May are when we hold some really big events in our hobby. At the last club meeting we announced over ten upcoming local events. I sure hope you have been able to attend at least some of them. Some events are highly competitive and that meets the needs of our members who enjoy that adrenaline rush. Other events are very low key and focus on camaraderie and a relaxed atmosphere.
